Our client is a large Main Contractor specialising in the construction of large scale projects in the Pharma, Data Centre, Manufacturing and Warehouse space.
Key Responsibilities:
* Health and Safety Strategy and Implementation
o Develop, implement, and manage health and safety policies tailored to data centre construction projects.
o Ensure compliance with local, national, and industry-specific safety regulations, maintaining our commitment to a zero-incident work environment.
* Risk Assessment and Mitigation
o Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for data centre construction activities, identifying potential hazards and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
o Develop project-specific health and safety plans, continuously monitor for effectiveness, and adjust as needed.
* Site Inspections and Audits
o Perform regular on-site inspections and audits to monitor adherence to safety protocols.
o Proactively identify areas for improvement and follow up with corrective actions to maintain high safety standards.
* Training and Awareness
o Design and deliver safety training programs for site personnel, ensuring they are aware of best practices, hazard identification, and emergency response protocols specific to data centre environments.
o Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and regular training sessions.
* Incident Management and Reporting
o Respond to on-site safety incidents, conducting investigations, and preparing reports with recommended actions to prevent recurrence.
o Maintain thorough records of all incidents, inspections, and audits to support continual improvement in safety performance.
* Stakeholder Communication
o Act as the primary point of contact for all health and safety matters on data centre projects, liaising with internal teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
o Communicate safety expectations clearly to all stakeholders and ensure alignment with project-specific safety requirements.
* Continuous Improvement
o Monitor industry trends, regulatory updates, and advancements in safety technology to keep the companys safety practices aligned with the best in the industry.
o Recommend and implement improvements to safety protocols and systems, particularly as they relate to the unique demands of data centre construction.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelors degree or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
* 2+ years of experience as a Health and Safety professional within the construction industry, with specific expertise in data centres or similarly technical projects.
* In-depth knowledge of local and international safety regulations and best practices for construction.
* Strong background in high-risk, high-tech construction environments, such as data centres, with proven experience in large-scale project safety management.
* Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar are highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage site personnel and management alike.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
