As a Police Officer, you'll step into a world where every day is different. You will be the first to respond to emergencies, offering vital support to those in need and working to keep our communities safe. This role requires courage, empathy, and a deep commitment to serving others, often during the most challenging times of their lives.
We're seeking individuals who want a meaningful career—one that makes a real impact, changes lives, and strengthens communities.
Avon and Somerset Police are inviting driven, compassionate individuals to join our Patrol teams through our Police Constable Entry Programme!
You will need to hold a Level 2 (GCSE or functional skills) in Maths and English at grade C/4 (pass) or above, and be able to demonstrate transferable skills such as problem solving, communication, and teamwork by answering application questions. Whether you're exploring a new career path or bringing experience from a public-facing role, if you have compassion, resilience, and strong communication skills, we want to hear from you!
This role is all about people: listening, understanding, and providing reassurance that truly makes a difference.
Your Career Journey
This isn't just a job—it's a life-changing experience. Over two years, you'll combine hands-on police work with academic study, earning a fully-funded Level 5 in Professional Policing Practice. You'll be paid while you train, starting on a salary of £29,907, increasing to £32,427 after initial training.
Your first 12 weeks will focus on professional training with our Learning Team and the University of the West of England. Afterwards, you'll join the Patrol team as an operational officer, engaging directly in frontline policing.
What You'll Do
1. Respond to incidents ranging from road traffic collisions to antisocial behaviour with professionalism and composure.
2. Support victims of crime with empathy and compassion.
3. Collaborate with colleagues committed to creating safer communities.
4. Engage with diverse communities, building trust and making a meaningful impact.
