The Children's Safeguarding Team share that passion. We offer a Safeguarding service for children from birth to 18yrs, providing guidance, supervision & training to all staff at UHSussex.
Responsibilities
* Managing safeguarding concerns & referrals, and advocating for vulnerable children in contact with the Trust.
* Collaborating with local Safeguarding Partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.
* Actively involved in the planning & implementation of safeguarding training.
* Supporting the delivery of safeguarding supervision to the MDT and receive regular supervision by senior members of the Safeguarding Team.
* Involved in practice improvement projects pertinent to Safeguarding Children within the Trust, such as Newsletters and 'Case of The Month'.
* Serving as a 'Neglect Champion' within the Trust.
* Base at Worthing Hospital with occasional cross-site working at St. Richard's Hospital; supporting the development of safeguarding knowledge & experience through management of different Safeguarding caseloads and establishing relationships with the wider MDT on both sites.
* Having daily responsibility for the scrutiny of all paediatric attendances to the hospital urgent care settings (Emergency Department and wards).
* Undertaking liaison with health care professionals and partner agencies and maintaining effective processes.
* Escalating concerns in accordance with the Trust and multi-agency guidance.
* Participating in the organisation and delivery of safeguarding training for clinical and non-clinical staff across the Trust.
* Being knowledgeable of the NMC code of conduct and being accountable for practice in accordance with that code, along with the Roles and Competencies for Health Care Staff (2019).
* Supporting the Named Nurse and wider team members in issues relating to safeguarding children.
* Fostering and maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders in relation to safeguarding children.
