Screening Support Sonographer
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust
Closing date: 24 June 2026
Do you want to work in a caring and professional environment where patients come first? Are you an enthusiastic, highly motivated and hardworking sonographer searching for a rewarding new role?
We are a friendly, supportive team, performing and reporting ultrasound examinations while ensuring the highest standard of patient care.
All sonographers working at band 7 and band 8a across radiology are awarded Recruitment and Retention Premia payments of £5,000 per annum pro rata. We also offer a generous relocation package worth up to £13,000.
Our obstetric service is delivered at Royal Bournemouth Hospital in a newly built state‑of‑the‑art maternity unit where we provide obstetric scanning alongside maternity colleagues.
Our general ultrasound service is split over several sites: Poole, Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch hospitals and two community diagnostic centres in Poole and Southbourne. We carry out many types of ultrasound examinations such as general medical, obstetrics, gynaecology, vascular, paediatrics (including neonatal hips and heads), and musculoskeletal. We also scan as part of the Early Pregnancy clinic and provide a 7‑day ultrasound service.
There is a mix of Philips, GE, Canon and Samsung ultrasound systems throughout the department. This is an exciting time to join us as we transform our services across Dorset.
