Description:
The K-12 Curriculum Specialist works in cooperation with the Director of Curriculum and Assessment, school staff, students, parents, and community resources to design, implement, and assess professional learning opportunities in areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Leads and supports curriculum review and development to ensure the effective implementation of the district’s mission and vision for student learning.
Requirements of Work:
1. Support the coordination and/or provide high quality and timely professional development opportunities to internal and external audiences within curriculum with attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion
2. Professionally represent the schools and district interactions with parents, community, staff, and students and resolve conflict in a professional manner
3. Demonstrate and model continual learning by staying current on research and best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment
4. Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Assessment
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Demonstrated ability of strong interpersonal and leadership skills in a team-based development environment
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
3. Ability to manage projects, perform a variety of tasks, adapt to different work environments, and meet sometimes short timelines both independently and in collaboration with others
4. Experience using Google Workspace, and other online learning applications
Qualifications:
1. A Master’s Degree or advanced coursework is preferred
2. Preferred 7-10 years of K-12 school teaching or related experience
3. Leadership experience is strongly preferred
4. Maine certification as a teacher or administrator, or the ability to obtain Maine certification
Reports to:
Superintendent of Schools & Director of Curriculum and Assessment
Terms of Employment:
210 days; salary commensurate with experience
