We are recruiting for a Mechanical Handling Field Service Engineer to join our South Field Service team. You will work mainly within the South Birmingham area. The role involves maintaining, repairing, servicing, and modifying a range of material handling equipment. As an independent company, each challenge is new and different, and we welcome your expertise.

We would love your help with:
Services, maintenance, overhauls, fault finding, and resolution on various material handling products.
️ Gas, diesel, and electric forklift trucks
️ Checking brakes, lifting assemblies, and steering with check sheets
️ Changing oil and filters as needed
️ Thorough Examinations (pending qualifications)
️ Preventative Maintenance such as lubricating steering and lifting equipment.
Battery Maintenance:
️ Checking voltages and fluid levels using meters and hydrometers.
Qualifications and Skills of the Forklift Field Service Engineer:
You should have experience with material handling products or be seeking to advance your career in engineering; candidates from automotive, roadside recovery, agricultural, REME, construction equipment, PSV, HGV, LGV, or plant backgrounds are also considered.
️ Responding to breakdowns
️ Building good rapport with customers and promptly addressing their downtime to keep their business moving
️ Showing initiative and supporting colleagues while accomplishing your own tasks
️ Achieving response time targets
️ Completing documentation to company standards
️ Liaising with the parts team to ensure appropriate stock levels
️ Experience working on mobile machinery (brakes, steering, wheels, lift chains)
️ Knowledge of electrical drive and control systems, diesel and LPG engines, common drive-trains, hydraulics
Essential Requirements:
️ Full UK driving license
️ City and Guilds qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or similar experience
️ Diagnostic computer skills
️ Ability to work independently
️ Experience in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering in heavy goods, plant machinery, or automotive sectors
