Purpose
This senior leadership role serves as the strategic business partner to BioPier's President. The role is focused on supporting business development activities and operations management, working closely with the BioPier head of delivery operations and Veramed cross-functional teams (Finance, Account Management, Contracts and Proposals, Sales, Project Management). This role is critical in supporting BioPier’s growth trajectory and its operational performance within the Veramed ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Support
· Triage and assess new business opportunities for strategic fit and feasibility.
· Lead the biometrics domain input required for commercial activities, including estimating workload, budget creation, cost modelling, project planning and win themes/strategies in collaboration with BioPier leadership and Veramed teams
· Contribute to the development of high-quality, customer-focused RFIs, pre-qualification questionnaires, proposals, and budgets.
· Contribute to pitch decks for bid defence meetings and attend if required
· Manage the process for change order identification, estimation, and contract administration with existing clients (in response to scope changes and contract modifications).
· Maintain the tracking and management system of all business contracts (CDAs, MSAs, Service Agreements and Work Orders/SOWs)
· Review historical billing data versus actual time spent to refine pricing strategies and enhance profitability for future projects.
Business Management
· Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting in partnership with Veramed's Finance & Project Management teams. Monitor and track contract milestones, deliverables, compliance requirements & KPIs.
· Review and process invoicing accruals and invoices for BioPier projects ensuring compliance with SOWs and budgets.
· Monitor invoicing to ensure it aligns with executed contracts, acting as primary liaison with clients on invoicing, contracts, and payment matters
· Ensure that Scope Changes and/or budget over/under utilization are identified in real time, and work with alliance management counterparts to resolve change requests in a timely fashion.
· Oversee project margin analysis and report on business unit P&L performance
· Support BioPier's financial planning, budget tracking, and expense reporting, including periodic and annual budgeting processes and financial forecasting.
Biometrics Operations Management
· Oversee the smooth handover of awarded projects to operational delivery teams and ensure accurate time tracking and alignment of work performed with contractual terms.
· Ensure the business has processes in place to capture, track and report on metrics related to quality, timelines, budget, utilization to demonstrate control to enable effective and timely business decisions
· Provide financial analysis and operational support, including variance reporting against budget, project profitability reviews and supporting teams in improving efficiency and resource utilization.
· Ensure commercial opportunities are balanced with operational capacity and put resourcing solutions in place in a timely manner
· Provide decision-making backup and biometrics management for BioPier team
· Line management and mentorship of BioPier team members as appropriate
Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management
· Serve as key liaison between BioPier leadership and Veramed support functions (Finance, Account Management, Sales, Project Management)
· Provide visibility into pipeline work, financial accruals and invoicing
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, or Business; advanced degree preferred
· 10-15 years of biometrics industry experience with strong background in programming or statistics
· Minimum 5 years in senior commercial or business operations roles within biometrics clinical research organizations
· Proven track record in proposal development & budget management
Technical & Business Skills:
· Deep understanding of clinical drug development and biometrics services
· Experience with contract and financial management processes
· Strong analytical capabilities
· Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation and proposal development
Leadership & Communication:
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to C-level executives
· Proven ability to work effectively in matrix organizations and multi-cultural environments
· Strong project leadership and cross-functional collaboration experience
· Track record of making informed strategic decisions in fast-paced environments
