Overview:
The Waqf Fund is a subsidiary of Human Appeal offering Waqf as a method of Islamic giving. Waqf is a form of ongoing charity (
sadaqah jariyah
), where donations are preserved and invested to create self-sustaining, long-term impact. Unlike one-time donations, waqf is structured to grow over time, turning contributions into a lasting legacy.
Key Objectives:
· Increase awareness of Waqf among Muslims.
· Drive donations organically through blog articles, Newsletter and social media.
· Educate Muslim donors about the unique model The Waqf Fund offers
· Build trust and position The Waqf Fund as a leader in modern Waqf solutions.
· Communicate the perpetual, reward generating nature of Waqf in an easy-to-understand way.

1. Website Content:
We're currently building a new website for The Waqf Fund, an outline with suggested headings and CTAs will be provided, Writers are expected to deliver donor-friendly, SEO-conscious content.
While the initial workload will be high, web copy will be required only occasionally thereafter.
2. Blogs:
Organic traffic is vital to building a steady stream of donors. An external SEO agency provides us with monthly keywords, and outlines are shared in advance. Writers are expected to submit SEO-compliant content that is easy to understand, emotionally resonant, and aligned with Islamic values.

3. E-Mail Newsletter
Email is a key donor retention and engagement tool. Monthly outlines and timelines will be provided, covering subject lines, focus areas, and CTAs.

4. Social Media Posts
Social content is a core pillar of our outreach strategy. Writers must craft short, engaging, and platform-specific copy.
· Content must be tailored to each platform's tone and audience
· Reddit & LinkedIn: more discussion-driven and informative
· Facebook & Instagram: more emotional and visual
· Posts may be text-only or used within creative assets
· Monthly calendars and visuals will be provided
· Writers are expected to deliver content for approval one week in advance
· At least 1 post per day (7/week, 30/month)
5. Reports
Reporting is an essential part of any charity for donors to track their donations and visualise the actual good they contribute to.
· Write and edit data driven monthly/yearly impact reports.
· Produce short case stories (under 150 words) that effectively use data to tell compelling stories.
· Collate and analyse data from regional teams and field agents
· Produce donor reports and content updates with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
6. Flyer/Brochure
Offline marketing materials are essential to aid in direct fundraising through events.
Working Style:
· All deliverables should be uploaded to our Google Drive.
· We may use Google Sheets or for tracking and collaboration
· Expect 1–2 rounds of revisions per deliverable
· All content must adhere to deadlines
· Calendars and outlines will be shared at the start of each month
· Ensure all content is respectful, faith-sensitive, and aligns with the wider objectives of raising awareness, engagement, fundraising, and sponsorship
· Stay updated with current events to produce reactive content quickly and efficiently.

Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in content writing or copywriting, ideally for faith-based, nonprofit, or charity organisations
* Familiarity with Islamic values and terminology.
* Ability to write both short and long-form content.
* Ability to write with clarity, emotion, and purpose across various content formats
* Strong research and storytelling skills
* SEO writing experience (especially blog content)
* Experience adapting tone for different platforms (e.g. email vs. Reddit vs. Instagram)
* Excellent command of English grammar and structure, additional languages like Arabic are desirable.
* Familiarity with MS Office suite, Google Docs, Sheets, or collaboration tools like
Contract & Trial period:
This is a contract-based position. While remote work is acceptable, we prefer candidates who are based in the UK ideally within the Birmingham area and can occasionally work from our office or attend in-person meetings.
We propose a 1-month trial period with clear weekly deliverables and feedback cycles. If successful, the contract will continue on a rolling monthly basis.
