To co-lead on opt-out HIV testing at University Hospitals Sussex in West Sussex with responsibility and focus on the Accident and Emergency Department (ED) at Worthing Hospitalworking with in conjunction with named HIV and A&E Consultants.
Main duties of the job
Responsibility for the monitoring and oversight of electronic lab-link from pathology that alerts the department to reactive HIV results from ED, escalating issues to IT as appropriate.
To be responsible for the assessment of all reactive HIV test results from ED and ensure that all reactive results from ED are appropriately followed up.
To provide specialist HIV support for newly diagnosed patients and for patients that are already known to be HIV positive but not currently linked into care.
Takes clinical responsibility for the delivery of effective partner notification to support public health in the community. Ensures contacts attendance and treatment, including the assessment for PEP and PrEP, through index patient or provider referral. BASHH guidance and outcome measures should be followed to ensure optimal management.
. Acts as a role model for best practice, support delivery of educational content around HIV testing in EDdemonstrating Trust Values and providing specialist knowledge and advice to other staff both within the Trust and in partner agencies.

Leads and supports the setting up of HIV opt out testing in the Emergency Department working with clinical teams to incorporate HIV testing into everyday practice. Provides a visible presence within the department, attending huddles and meetings as appropriate to understand any barriers to HIV opt out testing and formulating plans, some of which may be complex and require regular adjustments in order to ensure multi-disciplinary and multi- agency support for the project.
Acting as a professional role model, works as an advanced practitioner, demonstrating clinical expertise in the care of patients, ensuring newly diagnosed and those who have disengaged from care are supported in accessing care at the earliest opportunity and within BHIVA guidelines.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Professional/clinical knowledge acquired through degree, supplemented by specialist training, e.g. BASHH competencies in Health Advising or HIV, experience, short courses, CPD to master’s degree level or equivalent. Significant experience working at Band 6 level in areas of relevance. E.g. GUM, HIV or Health Advising.
Desirable criteria
2. BASHH competencies in Health Advising, or equivalent. Non- medical prescribing. PG Cert in Education, Post graduate module in Supporting Education in Practice or equivalent teaching qualification. Recognised counselling qualification Certificate in Good Clinical Practice
Skills

3. Skills for assessing and interpreting specialist patient/client conditions with appropriate action; skills for development of specialised programmes of care. Experience of managing service development or project.
