About the Role

Part Time - 16 hours per week

Initial Work Pattern: Monday 9 - 4pm, Tuesday 1 - 4pm, Wednesday 9 - 12pm

The role of HE Lecturer - Law here at University Centre (UC) Leeds is to plan, deliver and assess essential curriculum to our students across Access to HE Law and our LLB (Hons) Degree.

The curriculum offered at UC Leeds is vocationally focused and diverse in nature. The institution holds Degree Awarding Powers. This role will including delivery across all three years of the LLB(Hons) including specialist practice modules, and the dissertation to prepare our graduates to progress onto the next stage of their legal careers or education.

We offer a comprehensive LLB (Hons) Law degree, designed to prepare students for various legal and criminal justice careers.

* The salary advertised is based on full time hours & includes the market supplement in the salary. The actual salary for a 16 hours per week contract commences at £13,465 with progression to £15,150 per annum + £865 per annum Market Supplement.

Interviews to be held in January 2026.

What You Will Do

1. Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
2. Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
3. Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area.
4. Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
5. Apply theoretical understanding of effective practice in teaching, learning and assessment drawing on research and other evidence.

About You

6. Has experience in legal practice, or prior experience teaching Law in Higher Education
7. Holds a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) or a willing to undertake this and complete within 2 years
8. Relevant highest-level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject.
9. Recent teaching delivery in relevant subject areas (PGCE teaching placements/experience would also qualify here) which demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles.
10. Knowledge of current teaching practices and experience of utilising a range of teaching practices to enhance learner journey and progression.
