Position Purpose
Develop and assist fleet operations for the UK in cooperation with Fleet Engineering & Fleet Safety Teams. Collaborate with the UK Operations & UK National Fleet Manager UK & IE to implement the strategic plan and deliver a fleet driver training and development strategy. Implement and roll out a driver training and development package across the UK operational fleets to reduce fleet/driver related incidents.
Key functions include ongoing development and training of drivers across a 500-vehicle fleet (ranging from 3.5t vans to Class 1 HGV). Use data from telematics, incident investigations, and depot requests to train and develop drivers to high standards for driving and road safety. May require working with other driver trainers and supervising locally based Driver Assessors.
Key Job Activities
* Responsible for the training and development of the UK operational drivers.
* Work with business stakeholders to ensure driver training and incident reduction meet current and future needs; brief on projects related to driver development and fleet safety, including regulatory changes and company policies.
* Implement and utilize telematics; partner with operations and engineering to develop, implement, and monitor standard metrics, dashboards, processes, and approaches to improve driver style and reduce vehicle incidents.
* Champion current initiatives SWAT & GOAL.
* Develop a training pack for new drivers joining the business.
* Train, develop, and mentor local driver assessor network via train-the-trainer approach.
* Implement a company passport to drive initiative and plan annual assessments to maintain driver skills.
* Assist sites on accident investigations as required.
* Develop training course materials and assist with driver handbooks as required.
* Assist the fleet team in achieving full legal compliance with the operator’s license, health and safety, and driver hour regulations.
* Implement courses including tachograph, fuel management, defensive driving, and safety training.
Education
Education or equivalent – High school, College.
Experience (EMEAA)
Previous experience as an HGV Driver Trainer/Assessor. Driver training and assessment qualifications are essential (ADI, RTITB, RHA, SAFED and/or equivalent). Train the Trainer/Assessor qualifications (JAUPT Approved) are desirable. CPC Qualification and full UK HGV C+E Driving Licence. Must have ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. You must provide evidence of previous driver training experience at a strategic and operational fleet level within an organisation with a large (500+) fleet of vehicles (HGV, Trailers & Vans).
