At Serco, we are proud to work on behalf of the Home Office to manage the Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC). Our mission is to support vulnerable asylum seekers by providing safe, high-quality accommodation and essential services as they navigate the asylum process. We are looking for a housing officer to join our dedicated team in Dudley. This is a static role, based in a specific area, ensuring that properties are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with AASC standards.
What You'll Be Doing
* Conduct monthly property inspections to ensure compliance with AASC standards.
* Manage on-boarding and withdrawal of properties in line with local operating procedures.
* Identify and report property faults, ensuring they are categorised correctly for appropriate action.
* Perform minor property repairs, using the tools and training provided.
* Handle operational cash administration, such as topping up utility meters and processing emergency payments.
* Respond to and resolve customer complaints in a professional manner.
People, Skills and Requirements
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work face-to-face in a fast-paced environment while staying calm under pressure.
* Experience as a Housing Officer is preferred, but applications from candidates who have worked with vulnerable people are welcome.
* Comfort with handling challenging situations such as anti-social behaviour, safeguarding concerns, and medical needs.
* Due to the nature of the role, successful candidates will need to undergo Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) security clearance and a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check (subject to Home Office approval).
* Full, clean driving license is required.
