Our client, a market leader for automated manufacturing systems, are currently recruiting a Senior Automation & Software Engineer to join their growing team in Coventry. The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering programmable systems (PLC’s & Robots), concept design, commissioning and installation.Duties & ResponsibilitiesTimely and efficient design, installation and integration of automation systems.Produce FDS documentation from the correct interpretation of internal and external customer’s specifications.Assist and/or lead the hardware design teams (ePLAN and Pneumatics) to select the most appropriate equipment to be implemented according to the application and specification.Execute the design of the programmable systems, PLC, HMI’s, Robots, Safety Systems, Drive Systems, Vision Systems and SCADAProve the automation system within the digital simulation environment through virtual commissioning. Demonstrate all programmable code performs as intended and is ready for on-site commissioning.Installation of the designed software, debugging and commissioning of the automation functions, in a methodical mannerAbility to lead the FAT & SAT activities. Demonstrate the operation of the automation and its recovery through suitable testing techniques with the end customerActively promote and lead Industry 4.0 technologies and practicesQualifications & ExperienceTime served with at least 5 years industry experience as an Automation & Software EngineerExtensive Siemens PLC experienceKnowledge of controls systems and technologies with an understanding of the leading manufacturer’s systems, Siemens, Rockwell, ABB, CognexBachelor's degreeEplan P8 experience – preferredThe Package£50-£55k base salaryCar allowancePaid hourly overtime (after 40hrs)25 days holidayHybrid workingIncreased pensionDeath in service (2x salary)
