Overview
Job title: Sudden Cardiac Death Coordinator. Employer: University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. Contract: Fixed term, 12 months. Band 8a. Salary: £55,690 - £62,682 per annum pro rata. Working pattern: Part-time. Location: Princess Anne Hospital, Coxford Road, Southampton, SO14 2AA.
Responsibilities
* Provide a dedicated Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions (ICC) liaison for the coronial service for all patients and families affected by sudden cardiac death (SCD).
* Support individuals and families dealing with sudden cardiac death and related genetic disorders, including explaining complex medical facts, the diagnosis, probable course, and available management; enable clients to choose the most appropriate course of action.
* Collaborate with local coroners to provide information and educational materials, and act as a significant educational resource to the wider health care system and the public.
* Operate with agile working arrangements (a mix of on-site and remote work) and discuss flexible hours at interview.
Qualifications and Experience
* AHCS or HCPC (NMC) registration.
* MSc Genetic Counselling (following BSc/BA in a relevant subject) and registered with AHCS (Genetic Counsellor) OR RGN/RMN or equivalent with relevant degree, OR completed an STP in Genomic Counselling (HCPC registration or pending).
* Relevant experience in Inherited Cardiac Conditions and associated clinical pathways.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
* Experience within an NHS setting; ability to work autonomously and manage an independent clinical workload.
* Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and to analyse research findings to inform practice development; familiarity with relevant databases; ability to travel to peripheral clinics.
* Desirable: Certificate-level counselling qualification; teaching qualification; experience liaising with other healthcare providers; experience with audits, evaluation, and service development.
