Job Description
To meet an increasing workload and support the development and growth of our company, Kelvin Power has a permanent position for a Principal Electrical Engineer.
Kelvin Power provides a wide range of engineering consultancy services on major infrastructure projects in the energy sector and has a 40‑strong team of experienced multi‑disciplinary engineers and technicians delivering solutions to projects across the UK and ROI.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership in the substation engineering function
* Take a leading role in growing capability and turnover from substation engineering projects for Kelvin Power
* Act as a checker/approver and technical governance manager for deliverables in substation design and other related disciplines
* Provide technical supervision in engineering projects related to Kelvin Power and Vinci
* Lead client engagement, develop proposals, win work and deliver projects, and empower team members to assist in growing the business
* Provide technical expertise to other Vinci Energies groups (e.g., Omexom) in securing pipeline for the group and ensuring success for the whole group
* Embrace innovation and implement innovative solutions and technologies in the substation design engineering domain
* Act as an industry expert in electrical substation design and present and showcase Kelvin Power and Vinci Energies’ technical expertise at conferences, workshops and industry working groups
Key Skills and Experience
* Minimum of ten years industry experience in HV primary plant designs
* Experience delivering infrastructure projects to challenging deadlines
* Excellent detailing skills
* Knowledge of industry standards and ability to translate requirements to CAD
* Able to work on own initiative
* Excellent interpersonal skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills
* Degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering (Chartered Engineer highly desirable)
* CDAE (Contractor Design Approval Engineer) or LCDAE (Lead Contractor Design Approval Engineer) – Protection & Control – accredited with National Grid
