Job Description
The Deposit Protection Service (DPS), a division of Computershare, manages one of three Tenancy Deposit Protection Schemes across the UK. These government‑approved schemes secure tenants’ deposits in accordance with legal requirements throughout the tenancy. This role plays a vital part in protecting tenancy deposits and delivering fair, impartial decisions at the end of tenancies.
A role you will love
As an Adjudicator, you’ll work to strict deadlines while delivering clear, well‑reasoned adjudication decisions. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across the department, supporting continuous improvement and contributing to projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities
* Handle adjudications for disputes referred to DPS/LPS Scotland adjudicators
* Resolve disputes between landlords and tenants and draft adjudication judgments for The Deposit Protection Service/LPS Scotland
* Liaise with Dispute Resolution Case Handlers and other key individuals within DPS/LPS Scotland
* Assist the Head of Dispute Resolution, Lead Adjudicator, and Senior Adjudicators with various tasks as requested
Salary
Up to £42,000, depending on experience. Candidates must live within an hour’s commute of the Bristol office (BS13 8AE).
What you’ll bring to the role
You’ll review substantial and often complex information, identifying core issues to deliver clear, balanced decisions. Strong analytical, investigative, and decision‑making skills are essential, along with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Confident communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to work effectively under time pressure are required.
Key Skills Required
* Recognised law qualification (LLB, LPC, CILEX) or extensive experience in the lettings industry and qualified to degree level
* Ability to act honestly and responsibly while adhering to professional standards
* Skill in prioritising customer needs and treating them fairly
* A working knowledge of Housing Law and dispute resolution (desirable)
