Exciting Opportunity for a Specialist Nurse in Oncology/Haematology
The Chemotherapy Day Unit is seeking a dedicated and motivated specialist nurse to join our dynamic team.
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled professional with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to chemotherapy patients in a busy, nurse-led day unit. While you will work independently, you will also play a key role within our supportive team.
This position offers the opportunity to further your professional development, with additional study available within six months of appointment and the chance to be adopted by Macmillan.

Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the nursing team led by senior nurses to provide high quality nursing care to patients within the Haematology Day Unit.
* To plan, implement, deliver, and evaluate nursing care within the day unit
* To be responsible for high standards of nursing care
* To assist in the auditing of patient care and service delivery
* To maintain good nursing documentation in accordance with trust policy
* To ensure safe and appropriate discharge from the Day Unit following consultation/treatment
* To manage and advise patients and other members of staff on peripheral and central lines
* To be able to interpret blood results and act accordingly
* To acquire, use, develop and teach additional skills e.g. venesection, cannulation and venepuncture

Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse with current NMC Registration
* Evidence of further professional study
* ENB998 or Mentor Prep Qualification
* Trained in the Administration of Chemotherapy
Skills & Knowledge
* Venepuncture and cannulation skills
* Assertive and good decision‑making skills
* Good communication and listening skills
* Innovative approach to work
* Motivated to obtain further management skills
* Knowledge of current issues within the NHS
* Able to apply clinical theory to practice
Experience
* Experienced in I/V drug administration
* Experienced in Oncology
