Job Responsibilities
* Ensure all site commissioning and installation activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety and Quality, safeguarding the environment.
* Ensure all site commissioning activities comply with GE Grid and client policies, procedures, and UK and international legislation.
* Test, commission, and service installed primary and secondary equipment during construction and in-service substation operations.
* Effectively manage and supervise staff to execute projects in line with Client and GE expectations, programmes and budgets.
* Create, maintain and circulate accurate on-site test records, reports and quality documentation in accordance with GE internal governance and quality plans.
* Supervise, train, and mentor other assigned commissioning staff as Site Commissioning Engineer.
* Travel throughout UK and globally as required.
* Operate offshore windfarms (if applicable).
Operations & Accountabilities
* Promote safe working practices and continual improvement in site safety culture.
* Manage testing and commissioning of substation equipment to meet time scales and costs.
* Oversee day-to-day commissioning field resource management.
* Prepare, create and issue site documentation including RAMS, NCRs, TQs.
* Inform Site Manager / Project Engineer of site non-compliances.
* Report to Site Manager / Project Manager and Commissioning Manager.
* Act as LV Authorised Person (Advanced) when applying GE LV Permit systems.
* Demonstrate expert knowledge and experience in Site Commissioning.
* Work independently in problem solving and decision making.

* Organise work according to programme and execute within predefined time scales and costs.

Education & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Specific Knowledge & Skills
* Experience with Substation Protection Systems and equipment.
* Testing & Commissioning of HV and LV Switchgear and Equipment.
* Fault finding on protection schemes and GE equipment.
* Computer literate.
* Knowledge of Construction and Field Services site work.
Experience
* Testing and commissioning of HV power systems equipment.
* Validation of equipment, facilities or plants according to design objectives or specifications.
* Experience with SCADA systems and technical PC/DS Agile/Aview software.
* Communication with Protection and control systems as well as 3rd party IEDs integration.
* Site experience, working at height and in a construction environment.
* Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
* Effective communication skills internally and externally.
* 5 years’ experience in testing and commissioning of substation equipment (Generation, transmission and distribution).
* Knowledge and experience of working in an HV substation environment.
* Experience working on offshore windfarm environments.
* Good knowledge of IEC61850, Modbus, IEC101, IEC104, and IEC103.
* Experience with GE Micom and Multilin products is an added advantage.
* Experience with test equipment such as Omicron, Sverker, Programma and Megger.
