The Public Sector Fraud Authority (PSFA) is a fast-paced delivery and operational team that is responsible for holding departments and arms-length bodies to account for their handling of fraud in the public sector. The Authority will write the standards for counter fraud work across government and hold public bodies to account against these. Working in the PSFA offers access to a wide range of stakeholders across government and the opportunity to work with various sectors in a high-profile policy area with high media, parliamentary and ministerial interest. The Team The PSFA was launched on the 3rd August 2022 following an increased focus in government on tackling fraud. It succeeded the Government Counter Fraud Function (GCFF) in the Cabinet Office. The PSFA is at the centre of this function and leads work across government and public bodies to improve the prevention, detection and recovery of fraud. The PSFA is outcome and performance driven, offers a depth and breadth of expertise and works jointly with HMT to tackle fraud in the public sector. PSFA Intelligence Hub The PSFA Intelligence Hub was established as a direct response to the emerging threat of the C-19 pandemic and the rapidly changing frauds being committed against schemes which were rolled out to provide support for the public. The need was identified for a centralised Intelligence function to facilitate and coordinate the flow of information across Government as well as providing the general public with an anonymous route to report information. The PSFA Intelligence Hub is now in the design and development phase as it seeks to evolve and provide additional support for the wider Public Sector in combating fraud, corruption and bribery. The team is dedicated to enabling flows of intelligence across the Public Sector with a view to developing both Tactical and Strategic views around the threat of fraud targeting Governments £800bn annual spend. Critical to this process is the provision, to departments with reduced capacity and capability and other agencies, of intelligence that would not normally be known to or available in their own organisations. The new PSFA Intelligence Model and Strategy is scheduled to be launched in January 2024 so this is an exciting opportunity to join a team, and an organisation dedicated to making a difference to how the Public Sector understands and deals with fraud committed against it. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about transforming intelligence coordination across the public sector. They will be able to partner with multiple organisations, including law enforcement and other sectors, and engage with stakeholders at a range of levels with confidence and ease. They will be comfortable with the National Intelligence Model and understand how to log, handle and disseminate intelligence. We are looking for an individual capable of working in a demanding and fast paced role working on high profile intelligence and data sharing across Government to help detect and prevent fraud. Responsibilities Support stakeholder engagement with cross government counter fraud leads to ensure an effective response to intelligence disseminated and good quality management information on outcomes Support wider engagement with cross sector stakeholders in law enforcement and business sectors to help identify, acquire and maintain established intelligence flows Support the maintenance of and portal access for the PSFA Case Management System Provide governance support to the intelligence team and wider fraud function. Support the collection and production of good quality management information on outcomes. Ability to follow relevant policies, procedures and legislation to complete work. Ensure colleagues have the correct information available to them to do their jobs. Have a positive and focused attitude to achieving outcomes, despite setbacks. Monitor performance against objectives, making suggestions for improvement or taking corrective action where necessary. Ensure that colleagues are supported where tasks are challenging.
