Join a Growing Fire Consultancy at the Forefront of Building Safety
We are seeking an experienced FRAEW Surveyor to deliver high-quality Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs) across residential and mixed-use buildings throughout Stevenage and the wider Home Counties region.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile developments in response to the requirements introduced under the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated guidance, including PAS 9980.

The Role
You will be responsible for:
Conducting FRAEW assessments in accordance with PAS 9980 methodology
Inspecting and assessing external wall systems, cladding, insulation, cavity barriers, and fire stopping
Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and fire strategies
Producing clear, risk-based reports for clients, managing agents, and responsible persons
Advising on remediation requirements and risk mitigation measures
Liaising with contractors, building owners, and fire authorities where required
Projects will primarily be based across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, North London, and surrounding counties.
Requirements
Essential:
Proven experience delivering FRAEW assessments
Strong knowledge of PAS 9980 methodology
Solid understanding of cladding systems, façade construction, and compartmentation
Experience in residential buildings (including mid- and high-rise)
Excellent report writing skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Level 4+ qualification in Fire Safety, Building Control, or Construction
Membership of a professional body (IFE, IFSM, RICS, CIOB, etc.)
Experience conducting intrusive inspections
