About us
The Vale of Glamorgan is welcoming applications within its Flying Start Programme. Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded programme available in targeted areas supporting all families to give 0-3-year-olds a Flying Start in life. The programme aims to provide intensive support services for children and their families.
The focus of the programme is on promoting language, cognitive, social and emotional skills, physical development, and the early identification of high needs. This is achieved through the delivery of health support and guidance, parenting groups and support, and free part-time childcare.

About the role
Pay Details: Grade 5, SCP 8 - 12, £25,992- £27,711 (Pro Rata), £13.47 - £14.36 p/h
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday - term time only (39 weeks)
Main Place of Work: Flying Start, Barry
Temporary Reason: Welsh Government funded post until 31.03.2028
Description
Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded initiative aimed at children aged 0-4 years and their families. Our four internal childcare settings are an integral part of the service, delivering sessional childcare during term time only. We are looking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic Senior Childcare Worker to join our dedicated team. You will contribute to delivering a high-quality, fun, nurturing experience, providing learning and development opportunities for the children in your care. Although primarily based in one setting, staff are expected to cover across all sites as needed. As a Flying Start childcare worker, you will have access to funded training, including the opportunity to pursue CCLD in childcare. You will be an integral part of the wider Flying Start team, with support available and excellent career progression opportunities. About you
You will need:
* Minimum NVQ 4/ QCF5 in Children’s Care Learning and Development (CCLD)
* Advanced Practitioner with willingness to achieve relevant leadership and management units
* Experience working with babies/young children and their families
* Understanding of CIW requirements for Regulated Childcare
* Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing play activities for young children
