Business Development Manager - Inventory Management Solutions


Midlands (Hybrid - 2 days per month in Solihull HQ)

£50,000-£60,000 basic | £90,000-£100,000 OTE (uncapped) | Company Car (BMW X3)

At BMS, we've been engaged by a fast-growing technology business that designs and delivers digital inventory and asset management solutions. This is a newly created role, focused purely on new business generation, as the company continues to scale its commercial function and expand across the UK and Europe.

The Company


Our client is an established technology provider with over 20 years of experience delivering smart inventory management systems. Their solutions combine connected hardware, cloud-based software, and mobile applications to help clients reduce waste, improve visibility, and automate replenishment.

Serving both end-user manufacturers and distributors across sectors such as manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and facilities management, the company has seen rapid growth and strong recurring revenue performance.

With a current turnover of £3.5m and ambitious plans to grow headcount from 20 to 50, this is a high-potential business with a strong product suite and significant market demand.

The Role


As a Business Development Manager, you'll focus on winning new business and building long-term commercial partnerships.

* Sell a combination of hardware and SaaS-based inventory management solutions.
* Target both distributors and direct enterprise customers across the UK and selected European markets.
* Lead with value - positioning solutions based on ROI, efficiency, and time savings.
* Blend inbound marketing leads, partner referrals, and self-generated pipeline.
* Typical deal sizes: £1K-£25K per month, with long-term contracts and recurring software revenue.
* Average sales cycle: 1-6 months, depending on solution complexity.
* KPI expectations: 16 client meetings per month, combining virtual demos and on-site visits.

This is a full-cycle sales role where you'll have autonomy, ownership, and clear progression potential into senior sales or leadership roles.

The Candidate


We're looking for a confident, consultative salesperson who has:

* 3+ years of B2B solution sales experience, ideally in technology, software, or industrial automation.
* The ability to sell value-based solutions rather than transactional products.
* A proactive, hunter mindset with strong self-management and pipeline discipline.
* Experience managing longer sales cycles and multiple senior stakeholders.
* Familiarity with structured sales methodologies (SPIN, Challenger, MEDDIC).

The Package

* Basic Salary: £50,000-£60,000
* OTE: £90,000-£100,000 (uncapped)
* Car: BMW X3 + fuel card
* Benefits: Pension, laptop, mobile phone
* Holidays: 25 days
* Location: Hybrid (Midlands-based, ~2 days per month in Solihull HQ)
