Overview
Job summary: We are looking for a Specialty Doctor in General Adult Community. The post holder will provide medical expertise and support to the multidisciplinary team working under supervision of consultant psychiatrists based in the quadrant. The appointed candidate would have excellent communication skills and experience of working within multidisciplinary settings. Weekly team meetings, daily hand over and review meetings will be required for all patients in crisis.
Main duties
* To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
* To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively, and submit this promptly to the Information Department.
* To participate annually in a job plan review with the line manager, including consultation with a relevant manager to ensure the post is developed to reflect changes in service configuration and delivery, and to work with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure efficient running of services.
* To comply with the Trust's policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing service plans.

Job responsibilities
Role Description
* Initial Assessments: Assess, diagnose, formulate management plans, and share decision-making with patients and carers.
* Review and re-assessments: Flexible review and re-assessment of patients in response to need and in accordance with the pathway.
* Meetings: Communicate with patients and carers and share organisational policies and objectives.
* Multidisciplinary reviews: Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews and risk reviews.
* Clinical advice to team: Regular or ad hoc supervision on clinical matters; liaison with colleagues; discussion about patient care with primary and secondary care and other psychiatric teams.
* Section 12: Meet the requirements of emergency work, MHA assessments, and assessments of capacity.
* Physical health monitoring: Monitor metabolic complications related to medication, Lithium monitoring, and adherence to Clozapine protocols.
* Manage caseload: Actively manage outpatient caseloads in accordance with pathway guidance; operate efficient and safe patient review services such as drop-in clinics.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Essential: MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Desirable: MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Eligibility
* Essential: Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Desirable: In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice; Section 12/Approved clinician approval.
Clinical skills, knowledge & experience
* Essential: A minimum of 4 years' full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained part-time/flexible) with at least two years in a psychiatry training programme or as a fixed-term Specialty Trainee in psychiatry, or equivalent experience and competencies.
* Minimum of 6 months' experience within community services.
* Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams; excellent oral and written communication; strong bio-psychosocial medical knowledge.
* Desirable: Broad clinical experience in psychiatry services and strong medical knowledge in adult mental health.
Lifelong learning
* Essential: Demonstrated clinical problem solving in interdisciplinary areas; good organisational, listening, and communication skills; full driving license and access to a car unless exempt; active participation in clinical audit.
