Production Assembly Technician (Mechanical) — Temp-to-Perm
Location:Buntingford
Pay:£14.00 per hour + overtime at £21.00 per hour (time and a half)
Hours:40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Start:Immediate start
Shifts:Rotating early/late
We’re recruiting an experienced Production Assembly Technician (Mechanical)to join a busy production team in Buntingford. This is a stable temp-to-perm opportunity offering consistent weekday hours, paid overtime, a late shift premium, and training/development.
- Early shift: 07:30 – 16:00
- Late shift: 13:00 – 22:00 (to be introduced shortly)
You will start on the early shift initially, then rotate early/late once the late shift is introduced. Ashift premium of £1.50 per houris paid for hours workedafter 16:00on the late shift.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies accurately to specification
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring equipment
- Carry out quality checks to ensure tolerance and finish requirements are met
- Report non-conformances and support corrective actions
- Complete assembly records/paperwork as required
- Follow H&S procedures and maintain a tidy work area
Requirements
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly (or similar manufacturing/assembly role)
- Able to read basic engineering drawings and follow written instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and good manual dexterityReliable/punctual and able to work rotating early and late shifts
- Comfortable standing for long periods and doing light to moderate lifting
- Good communication skills and a team-focused approach
