Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Finance Manager Job Description JOB PURPOSE The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and that the organisation is maximising its resources in accordance with Oxfam Irelands needs, policies and procedures. They will also assist with the provision of financial information for Oxfam Irelands companies on a timely monthly and annual basis. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide support to the Finance Manager on all finance issues including the production of timely monthly and annual management accounts. Assist the CFO / Finance Manager in the preparation of year end statutory accounts. Assist the CFO / Finance Manager, and other budget holders, in the organisational wide budgeting and forecasting process. Provide information and support to external and internal audits, particularly at year end as required. Promote the importance and benefits of quality by ensuring adherence to best practice through the use and development of Oxfams Financial Controls and Procedures Manual. Recruitment, induction and training of the finance team staff, volunteers and interns in accordance with Oxfam Irelands needs, policies and procedures in conjunction with the Finance Manager. Assist with the co-ordination, updating and implementing new developments and processes in relation to the improvement of the day-to-day finance function, communication systems and Oxfams computerised accounting systems. Assist with implementing new modules of OIEs financial systems (NetSuite) Assist with creating interfaces with EOPs and CRM systems Provide training and support to volunteers and other staff in line with Oxfams financial procedures, as required. Develop and improve performance through attendance at relevant training courses as agreed. Assist in completion of statutory and regulatory returns. Provide support to the Finance team, and wider Operational support team when needed, with tasks as agreed and determined. Understanding of and commitment to adhere to equity, diversity, gender, child safety and staff health and wellbeing principles. Carry out any other duties within the scope and purpose of the job as required. Personal Specification JOB REQUIREMENTS Essential Professional Qualified Accountant. ACCA, CIMA ACA or close to qualification. Demonstrable professional experience within the finance discipline, to include the operation of a multi cost centred computerised accounting system. balance sheet reconciliations and producing monthly management accounts. using Microsoft Office in particular Microsoft Excel to manipulate data and produce reports. maintaining a high level of customer service and meeting deadlines. Self-starter with experience of working to deadlines and demonstrable ability to use initiative, work independently, and prioritise a diverse workload effectively under pressure. Ability to work as part of a team in order to meet deadlines effectively and efficiently. Highly numerate with the ability to produce accurate information and reports to set deadlines. Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written English) and demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to adapt during a period of change. Flexible approach to working hours and travel - ability to work evening and weekends if necessary and flexibility in terms of travel as there may be a requirement to travel between the Dublin and Belfast offices as well as internationally. Strong commitment to Oxfams mission and values. Eligibility to work in Ireland and the UK. Desirable Knowledge of accounting in the context of international development and humanitarian projects would be an advantage. Experience of leading projects of financial system improvement. Knowledge of NetSuite would be an advantage. Additional requirements The finance function is based in Belfast, but it is responsible for the accounting activities for both NI and ROI. This post is to provide support to the CFO and Finance Manager to meet the needs of a growing and changing organisation. This post involves working as part of a team in a busy environment. Staff are required to have a degree of flexibility in their work and attitude, to co-operate with colleagues to ensure the efficient, effective and economic use of Oxfams resources.
