Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (until 9th August 2026)

Contract Reason: Secondment Cover

Salary: Grade H. Scale 29 - £39,862 to Scale 31 - £41,771

Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Base Location: Ashton Market Hall, Market Street, Ashton-Under-Lyne, OL6 7JU

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Specialist to join our IT. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the technical support, maintenance & development of our organisation’s network infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure and efficient connectivity across all systems and devices.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about delivering robust network solutions that support business continuity and innovation.

You will be involved in a range of tasks including:

* The installation, configuration and maintenance of networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, cabling
* Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
* Supporting end-users with network-related incidents, ensuring minimal disruption.
* Assisting with system upgrades, patches, and security measures.
* Maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations, assets, and changes.
* Working with the IT team to ensure network integrity, security, and compliance with policies.
* Contributing to network planning, capacity management, and performance improvements.
* Responding to and resolving helpdesk tickets in line with SLAs.
* Escalating complex technical issues to senior engineers or external vendors where necessary.
* Participating in disaster recovery planning and testing.

About You

Applicants should have the following qualities:

* Level 3 qualification in IT / Networking or equivalent experience
* Hands-on experience supporting LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi networks
* Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, and firewalls
* Experience troubleshooting network connectivity issues
* Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing/helpdesk systems
* Good knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery within a large organisation
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Applications are particularly welcome from candidates who also possess Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent
