Overview
The physical security coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the healthcare premises, assets, staff and patients. This role involves developing, implementing and overseeing security protocols and systems to maintain a secure environment.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* To be the Trust’s lead and to support the Trust in all aspects of physical security, including the design, implementation and commissioning of all existing, new and proposed physical security demands.
* To develop, draft and publish directorate specific policies as required for review by senior management and Health & Safety Committees.
* Act as the physical security liaison with all departmental managers and staff regarding appropriate physical security measures to ensure best use of the security systems and provide expert advice on appropriate equipment and its use.
* Support the Trust’s Lead Local Security Management Specialist (LSMS), whose role is to ensure the local delivery of NHS Protect and working within national legal frameworks for tackling violence and security management.
* Provide advice, guidance and instruction on physical security management matters to all Trust employees to minimise risk and achieve high standards.
* Interface with Trust Information and Technology department to ensure regular and up to date data is available.
* Ensure good and effective communications with internal and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities to work efficiently and avoid duplication.
* Ensure that investigations undertaken into any accidents, incidents or criminal activity are of a high quality and provide guidance and assistance to investigators where necessary.
* Ensure the functionality and compliance under the Data Protection Act and Codes of Practice for the North Bristol NHS Trust Security Systems.
* Manage the operating systems for the access control and CCTV and ensure operational teams are trained and capable of using these systems.
* Input, manage and interpret security data that comes into the Trust security department from a variety of sources and ensure that relevant persons are kept informed. Collate, analyse and distribute complex security held data as required.
* Input, analyse, compare and manage all complex security data required for Security Incident Reporting Systems [SIRS], an external database for the NHS Security Management Service.
* Create, edit and publish reports and newsletters on an approved frequency that ensures all staff are kept up-to-date with physical security matters and ancillary information.
* Ensure that security incidents are reported promptly to allow investigations to take place, risks to be assessed and to allow the development of preventative measures.
* Assist in the maintenance of the Trust Security & Parking Intranet pages and publications to meet deadlines and ensure that all information is current and up-to-date.
* Ensure that the Trust and Departmental databases are updated and maintained in all matters relating to Departmental activities in such a manner that information can be gathered immediately and accurately.
* Provide holistic support for the Trust’s Security Department including administrative functions as required.
* Carry out security related audits and reviews in line with Trust Policies and procedures for the whole of the Trust and gather data and evidence in line with NHSLA standards for a safe and secure environment.
* Provide a specialist ‘support and training role’ for Trust and security staff that relate to security procedures and systems.
* Coach external contractors involved in Trust-wide security awareness training, present at Trust inductions and communicate to all levels of staff on security as and when required.
* Liaise with FM and Carillion Services on a daily basis for any security system failures or maintenance to ensure a timely and cost effective solution.
* Provide detailed reports to the HOSTP on Protective Security
* Help develop a clear security strategy for the Trust and for stakeholders in partnership with the HOSTP
* Support the development of schemes and reporting systems so that security incidents and breaches of security are detected and reported.
* Provide first line support to appointed Security Champions throughout the Trust
* Provide a full technical support for any technical security systems, such as CCTV, control of access, ID card provision, as required.
* Work with the Trust’s PFI partner in the development of the site and effects on any physical security matters.

* 3 years in a similar role managing electronic security measures, data and project management.
* Ability to interpret information and create reports based on that data
* Ability to communicate to staff at all levels to ensure a clear and precise exchange is achieved.
* Ability to identify risks and identify suitable solutions
