Could you inspire hope for people who are struggling with their mental health?
Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the South-West offering housing, support and hope to thousands of people with mental health and other needs. We promote wellbeing by supporting people and communities to build brighter futures. We value relationships and making sense of what has happened to those accessing our services, rather than labelling what is wrong with them.
We are recruiting a Peer Recovery and Wellbeing Worker to join our Peer Suicide Prevention Service in Mendip, supporting clients in the community.
About the role
We are committed to working with a recovery-based approach and supporting people to meet their individual needs. Why not join our team to support our clients on their recovery journey by:
* Offering 1-2-1 client support
* A committment to enabling recovery for everyone
* Drawing on and sharing lived experience
* Helping people reclaim their identity; regaining a positive sense of self, of who they are beyond mental health difficulties and to overcome stigma
* Contributing to the co-production of individual care and recovery plans
* Helping people develop personal empowerment; regaining control over their life, focusing on strengths and taking personal responsibility for their recovery.
As this role is community-based across the Mendip area of Somerset, and with some travel across the county, the successful applicant will need to be a driver with access to a vehicle.
The role is advertised at 2 days a week with flexibility around working days, to be agreed with the successful candidate.
Full details of this exciting opportunity can be found in the role profile.
