Are you looking to join a Rheumatology department that are expanding and developing their service? We are currently looking for a Consultant Rheumatologist to join our team in a 10 PA post. Our team provides both outpatient, day patient and inpatient care for patients presenting with rheumatic complaints with a particular emphasis on those with inflammatory disease and connective tissue disease including vasculitis. We would welcome applicants who have had previous leadership experience or who would like to develop leadership skills. We are looking to appoint to a permanent post but will consider applications from individuals looking for a 12 month fixed term contract. You will provide the full range of specialist diagnosis, treatment and care to patients with acute and chronic rheumatology problems as outlined in the proposed programme. You will experience the best of both in Somerset, the countryside and the cosmopolitan - there is truly something for everyone Qualifications Essential • Medical Degree and Royal College membership, or equivalent. • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice at time of applying. • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Rheumatology or entry within six months Desirable • An appropriate higher degree or qualification (MD, PhD or equivalent). Experience Essential • Depth and breadth of clinical experience in Rheumatology and General Medicine following completion of approved STR training programme or equivalent. • Experience in a special interest that will complement those existing in the department. Desirable • Experience at locum consultant level. Organisation and Planning Desirable • Evidence of general management training and self-development in areas such as recruitment and selection, leadership, planning and change management, appraisal. Research Desirable • Evidence of involvement in a research project in the last 2 years. Teaching Desirable • Evidence of teaching to medical students and doctors in training and the multidisciplinary team.
