Job Description
We’re recruiting a Senior Information Security Engineer to support the Chief Information Security Officer in managing and reducing information security risks across Technology Services.
This is a hands-on, technical role focused on leading the design, implementation and continuous improvement of AJ Bell’s enterprise security tools and platforms. You’ll play a key role in driving automation, innovation and integration across our technology estate.
Key responsibilities
1. Lead the delivery and management of enterprise security solutions across endpoint, cloud, network, DevOps and security monitoring
2. Design and implement secure infrastructure controls aligned to best practice
3. Identify, evaluate and implement new security tools and platforms
4. Drive adoption of new technologies, ensuring smooth operational handover and value realisation
5. Lead and coordinate patch management across systems and hardware
6. Support server hardening initiatives with Infrastructure and Service Delivery teams
7. Provide security oversight across projects and change initiatives
8. Support audits, regulatory reviews and due diligence activities
9. Act as a key link between the CISO function and Infrastructure teams
10. Contribute to continuous improvement of cybersecurity risk management processes
Technical expertise
11. Proven experience implementing enterprise security platforms
12. Strong knowledge of security risk management tools and techniques
13. Deep understanding of security solutions (e.g. SIEM, PAM, IGA, endpoint protection, email/web gateways)
14. Experience with firewall technologies (desirable)
15. Knowledge of cloud security standards and solutions (desirable)
16. Strong understanding of core IT and networking principles
17. Awareness of the evolving threat landscape
Skills and experience
18. Experience working within frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST or similar
19. Significant experience in IT security
20. Financial services or e-commerce experience preferred
21. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
22. Ability to take ownership and deliver end-to-end solutions
23. Effective communicator, able to work across technical and non-technical teams
24. CISSP (achieved or in progress) desirable
