Barclays Network Operations supports operational, service management, product management, product engineering, automation and tools across network components including LAN, WAN, ADC, Firewall, DNS, DHCP, Wireless, SDN, Automation and Proxy. The role is part of Barclays Foundation Services within the EMEA Network Support team, delivering quality network operational support and analytical skills to Barclays Business & Technical areas.
The role can be based in Knutsford or Glasgow.
Purpose of the role
To build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems, using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms as required with the aim of ensuring that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.
Accountabilities
* Build Engineering: Development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Identify appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements.
* Incident Management: Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to identify, address, and resolve potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use data to drive down mean time to resolution.
* Automation: Develop and implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting/coding disciplines.
* Security: Implement secure configurations and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other threats, including protection of hardware, software, and data from unauthorised access.
* Teamwork: Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives via a data-driven approach.
* Learning: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization\'s technology communities to foster technical excellence and growth.
Qualifications and experience
* Experience of Network Operational Support within a large institution or bank.
* Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex network-related issues.
* Solid understanding and experience of LAN and WAN technologies/protocols as well as security-related technologies including Fortigate firewall & IDS, FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer, Cisco ASA, Cisco Tetration.
* CCNP certification (or equivalent qualification/experience).
* Experience working within a large multi-site, multi-protocol LAN & WAN environment.
* Hands-on experience with MPLS, Multicast, QoS, Wireless.
