We are seeking a patient, compassionate, and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Wolverhampton, starting ASAP. The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos and strong SEN provision. Pupils with a variety of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties, are supported through targeted 1:1 or small-group interventions. Staff work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO, and other support professionals to provide personalised support for every child.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop independence, and build confidence. You will assist with both academic tasks and social-emotional learning, ensuring children feel supported and valued throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEN
* Assist pupils with academic tasks, social interaction, and communication development
* Implement strategies from EHCPs and individual support plans
* Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and self-confidence
* Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and break times
* Monitor, record, and report pupil progress to teachers and SENCO
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and support staff
* Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
* Promote pupils’ social skills and peer engagement
* Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies
