Sous Chef
Hours of work: 40 hours per week
We are hiring a Sous Chef at ISS in Glasgow, Scotland. You will play a key role in supporting the Senior Sous Chef and Head Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences across two coffee shops, a main restaurant, and a busy onsite hospitality operation.
As Sous Chef, you will be a central part of our kitchen team, contributing to menu creation, day‑to‑day food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation and flavour. You’ll help lead and inspire a talented team of chefs, maintaining smooth kitchen operations and supporting the delivery of outstanding customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Senior Sous Chef and Head Chef in managing the kitchen team and ensuring high standards of food production and presentation.
* Prepare and supervise dishes across all catering outlets, maintaining quality, consistency and visual appeal.
* Assist in planning and developing menus that reflect seasonal produce and customer preferences.
* Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering and help control food costs and waste reduction.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety, hygiene and statutory kitchen regulations.
* Help train, motivate and mentor junior kitchen staff to maintain high culinary standards.
* Support the delivery of daily service, hospitality events and special promotions.
* Contribute creative ideas to enhance menus and customer satisfaction.
Professional and Personal Competencies / Qualifications
* Minimum SCQF Level 7 or equivalent cookery qualification.
* Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie in a large‑scale, high‑quality catering or food service environment.
* Proven culinary skills and a passion for delivering exceptional food.
* Strong team player with good leadership and communication skills.
* Organised, proactive and able to work efficiently under pressure.
* Good understanding of HACCP, allergen management and food safety practices.
* IT literate with basic administrative and ordering experience.
