Midwife Teaching Fellow

We are looking to recruit a part-time Midwife Teaching Fellow to work in theUndergraduate Medical Education Department, as a member of the teaching team forthe University of Sunderland Medical School.
This post offers an exciting opportunity for a Midwife to be a part of ourdynamic multidisciplary team. The team consists of a variety of MDT members who worktogether across different specialites to ensure the curriculum is deliveredefficiently and effectively for the medical students.
The post holder will have the opportunity to work both independently andas a part of a larger team. Teachingopportunities are dynamic and will allow the successful candidate to becreative and forward thinking.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate must be registered with the NMC and have significantpost-registration experience. The candidate must have a Degree in a health careor educational subject, be proficient in clinical skills assessment, have agood knowledge of the medical role and have experience of autonomous working inan MDT environment. Excellent communication, teaching and organisational skillsare essential.
We would expect that the candidate would be able to take a lead inactivities and ensure effective time management, prioritisation andorganisation as required. Effective negotiation and interpersonal skills areimportant as is the ability to work under pressure, coping with more than oneproject at a time, meeting timescales and targets, working both independentlyand as part of a team. As well as this, a flexible attitude towards work isessential.
It is desirable for the candidate to have a recognised teachingqualification, as well as experience teaching in simulated learningenvironments. Experience with giving feedback and using feedback models is alsodesirable.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director ofUndergraduate Clinical Studies, the Clinical Nurse Lecturer, Consultant BlockLeads and other Teaching Fellows. The post holder will work hours within the standardworking week, and flexible working hours (as per Trust Policy) can benegotiated. Support and training will be given within the role.

Qualifications
* NMC Registered midwife with experience of autonomous working
* Degree in a health care related or educational subject
* Demonstrable prior experience of teaching
* Clinical skills or equivalent qualification or experience
* Competence in use of standard IT (MS word, excel)
* Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE)
* Competent in the use of advanced IT systems
Experience
* Experience of and ability to work in a multi-professional team
* Evidence of teaching experience in a learning environment
* Recent clinical experience working in health care
* Experience of workload management and autonomous decision making
* Evidence of professional development and revalidation
