Are you an experienced Construction Document Controller who thrives in a busy project environment and enjoys being the person who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes?
We’re working exclusively with a growing and highly respected construction business in Medway who are looking to strengthen their team with the addition of a confident, organised and proactive Document Controller.
This is not a role for someone who simply uploads drawings and ticks boxes. They need someone who understands the importance of compliance, structure, accuracy and communication within live construction projects — someone who is confident enough to challenge non-compliant information, chase outstanding items and build strong working relationships across multiple stakeholders.
You’ll be joining a supportive, down-to-earth team with an excellent reputation in the industry and a strong pipeline of projects across London and the Southeast.
The role:
You’ll play a key role supporting multiple live construction projects, managing documentation processes from start to finish and acting as a central point of contact for project teams, subcontractors and clients.
Duties will include:
Managing project documentation through a full Common Data Environment (CDE) system
Reviewing, organising and distributing drawings and technical documents
Ensuring document control processes, naming conventions and compliance standards are followed correctly
Managing RFIs, technical submissions, workflows, trackers, samples and O&M documentation
Maintaining both system-based records and manual trackers where required
Supporting project teams across multiple fast-moving projects simultaneously
Rejecting and returning incorrect or non-compliant documentation professionally and confidently
Delivering guidance and training to external users on document management systems where needed
Liaising with internal teams, subcontractors, clients and consultants daily
Occasional travel to London sites on an ad-hoc basis (expenses paid)
What we’re looking for:
Minimum 2 years’ experience within Document Control in the construction sector
Experience using a proper CDE/document management platform (not just SharePoint)
Strong understanding of document control procedures and construction workflows
Previous experience handling technical construction documentation
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple projects
Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
Confident communicator who can be assertive whilst maintaining positive relationships
Proactive, solution-focused and able to work independently when needed
Strong IT skills and confidence learning new systems
Full UK driving licence preferred due to office location
Highly desirable:
Previous experience using Procore
Main contractor experience
Exposure to Design & Build and JCT contracts
What’s on offer?
Long-term opportunity with a well-established and growing construction business
Supportive, personable team environment with genuine stability
Opportunity to work on exciting, high-profile projects
Career development and progression for the right person
Free parking on site
A business that values reliability, initiative and people who genuinely care about doing a good job
This role is interviewing immediately; however the company are happy to wait for the right person if notice is required
