Under the general supervision of the anesthesiologist, provides perioperative anesthesia care in support of orthopaedic surgical procedures. Administers anesthetic; provides pre-operative evaluation and post-operative follow-up. Functions as a patient advocate and confidant, advisor, and liaison between patients, families, nurses, and physicians.

Qualifications
* Current license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a registered professional nurse.
* Certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
* ACLS and PALS certification required.
* Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred, especially in Orthopaedics.
Education
* Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia education program.
* Master’s Degree in Nursing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Perform pre-anesthetic evaluations with proper documentation and consider appropriate anesthesia plans.
2. Review patient condition and medical records immediately prior to induction, including lab data, medication dosages, and patient status.
3. Interview and examine patients to assess suitability for anesthesia.
4. Recommend anesthetic plans tailored to the patient and procedure.
5. Verify equipment functionality before anesthesia administration.
6. Administer anesthesia, ensuring ventilation and circulatory stability throughout the procedure.
7. Monitor the patient intra-operatively, providing continuous anesthesia care.
8. Document anesthesia records comprehensively and promptly, including post-operative orders.
9. Report to PACU with detailed patient condition and anesthesia information.
10. Evaluate patients for discharge and sign discharge orders.
11. Engage in ongoing training and education to maintain high-quality care.
12. Follow all policies and procedures of the system and department.
13. Collaborate with the care team for optimal patient outcomes.
14. CRNAs are supervised (not directed) by anesthesiologists.
