2-3 Months Contract with a Local Authority Job Purpose The Social Worker in the Child and Family Help Team is crucial in supporting children, young people, and families who require early help, targeted interventions, or statutory involvement. This role involves managing a caseload of children and young people, ensuring that assessments, direct work, planning, and decision-making are executed to the highest professional standards. The position is essential for promoting children's safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes while preventing escalation to child protection services. The Social Worker collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams, partners, and families to deliver effective, child-focused interventions. Key Duties/Accountabilities Manage an agreed caseload in line with statutory requirements, departmental policies, and expected timeframes. Undertake high-quality assessments of need, risk, and family circumstances using evidence-based practice. Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with children, families, and partner agencies. Carry out direct work with children and young people, ensuring practice is creative, purposeful, and child-centred. Essential Experience Required Experience working with children, young people, and families, including undertaking assessments and direct work. Strong experience managing a caseload within statutory timescales. Experience completing child protection investigations and managing risk. Essential Qualifications Required Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised professional qualification. Completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) or equivalent experience. Active Social Work England registration. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Additional Information to Note Working hours: 36 hours per week The role requires an Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Child).
