Purpose of Role
Vinci Facilities,a leading provider of integrated facilities management and infrastructure solutions, is seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Design Manager to join our Defence refurbishment team.
Job Description
This role will lead the design delivery for a portfolio of refurbishment projects, primarily at RAF Brize Norton and other strategic Defence sites in Oxfordshire.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the design and planning phase of each project—ensuring high-quality, compliant, and innovative solutions across multiple project streams.
You’ll coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, facilitate seamless collaboration between stakeholders, and ensure projects meet strict Defence and MOD standards.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design phase for multiple refurbishment and construction projects across Defence locations.
* Act as the key liaison between architects, engineers, specialist consultants, and project managers.
* Ensure all designs meet MOD requirements, relevant building regulations, and sustainability goals.
* Manage design documentation, timelines, deliverables, and budget constraints.
* Conduct design reviews and ensure integration of all design elements.
* Provide technical guidance and challenge design assumptions to ensure the best solutions are implemented.
* Oversee coordination across project teams to drive timely delivery and cost-effective execution.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
* Proven experience in a Design Manager role on Tier 1 construction projects.
* Background in Defence, MOD, or other highly regulated environments (strongly preferred).
* Degree-qualified in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
* In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and design standards.
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent design projects with strong project planning skills.
* Skilled in using design coordination and project management software.
* Strong communication and leadership skills with a collaborative approach to delivery.
