Overview
The Specialty Medicine Directorate are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Support Medical Secretary to support the Respiratory service based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
The post holder will be required to work within a team using their own initiative and demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
Main duties
* Provide secretarial duties such as audio typing of medical correspondence, mail and filing duties, managing patient pathways and liaising with staff, patients, relatives/carers and external partners.
* Have a good understanding of the principles of Referral to Treatment guidelines and an empathetic approach to customer care; an excellent telephone manner is required.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. It isn\'t essential; Welsh language skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above are an advantage during short-listing. Level 3 covers basic conversations with patients about everyday health.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* RSA/OCR Level III or equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience.
* Good standard of education.
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Medical Secretary qualification (e.g., AMSPAR, ECDL).
Experience

* Previous experience in a secretarial role within a health setting.
* Experience of working in a busy office environment.
* Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
Desirable criteria
* Previous NHS experience
* Knowledge of NHS/Health Board applications, e.g. WPAS
