Offer description

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Tactical Planning team within the Water directorate. Our Asset Planners are the central point of contact for water treatment and network asset issues.

Our assets may be anything from our pipes in the ground to process equipment or pumps at treatment works. This means that you will take full responsibility for the asset needs in your assigned geographical area.

Reporting to the Asset Manager, you’ll be the go-to person for operational colleagues as you undertake information analysis, determine the root cause(s), value model assessments, identifying options (optioneering) and business case generation.

This means you’ll partner with a wide range of stakeholders and operational teams using your technical understanding of asset operation to review asset need requirements.

You will maintain excellent communication with your stakeholders as you’ll lead liaison meetings and maintain regular communication to ensure they’re fully informed.

About you

Are you analytical with a passion for data analysis?

The successful candidate will be comfortable interpreting a wide range of information and have excellent analytical skills. You will have experience evaluating complex data and produce accurate written reports. This means experience of using the full suite of Microsoft applications (especially Excel) is essential.

You’ll demonstrate the ability to build good working relationships within your own team, with departments across the business and with supply partners. This will mean being visible across the operational sites within your assigned geographical area.

You will have a confident and flexible approach to planning and managing your time effectively to meet the needs of the team. This means you will be expected to use initiative to challenge, ensuring that our activities and plans deliver maximum value for the business.

It would be beneficial for you to have asset management experience and/or a qualification as well as knowledge of water network or treatment processes. Knowledge of an engineering discipline would also be beneficial. Whether you are a recent graduate or have relevant asset management experience, we are keen to hear how you can join our team and make a positive difference.

Initial interviews will take place January 2026
