Electrical Engineer

Electrical maintains, repairs, and installs electrical systems for food processing and packaging machinery. Responsibilities include performing planned and reactive maintenance, diagnosing and fixing electrical faults, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement projects. The role requires strong fault-finding skills, experience with PLCs, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
* Maintenance and repair: Perform both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on machinery to minimize downtime.
* Fault finding: Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on equipment such as motors, drives, and control systems.
* Installation and commissioning: Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
* Compliance: Ensure all work and site practices comply with health & safety and food safety (HACCP/BRCGS) regulations.
* Record keeping: Maintain accurate maintenance records, often using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
* Continuous improvement: Assist in projects to improve efficiency, energy use, and reliability of the plant.
* Building services: Maintain site utilities, including HVAC, refrigeration, and other building systems.
Required skills and experience
* Technical skills:
* Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities.
* Experience with PLCs, electrical schematics, and control systems.
* Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics is often required.
* Experience with maintenance methodologies like PPM and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
* Experience:
* Previous experience in a manufacturing, preferably food, environment is essential.
* Experience with packaging machinery is often required.
