An outstanding opportunity for a Water Network Contract Manager to join our Wholesale Water directorate, a chance to make an impact!
In this brand new role, you will be leading a high performing team and managing an effective suite of water network contracts that supports the company strategy and ambition to deliver the ODI measures for the Water Networks below ground service providers, developer services and LCDR contract (primarily leakage find and fix) to meet budget, compliance, customer and health and safety targets.
Your primary responsibility will be to deliver value from the contract by optimising the delivery methods and creating innovative ways with the in house and service provider teams to ensure that all work produces the desired outputs.
You will be required to assess demands and expectations of internal and service partner teams, people, resources, compliance, efficiency, quality and demands from other parts of the business in identifying solutions to assess the effectiveness of current business processes and look for areas of improvement, efficiency and innovation. Ensure effective controls are in place to identify, manage and mitigate risks which includes regulatory compliance, financial compliance, service delivery and health and safety.
As a confident leader leading Operational excellence across the Water Network Contracts, you will create a “One Team” alliance with our Service Partners, and Internal Customers, identifying opportunities and delivering efficiencies to enable the company to achieve its strategic and financial targets, regulatory compliance, serviceability and excellent levels of customer service. As your direct reports will primary be desk and field based as contract assurance and coordinators, with your strong management and leadership skills you will have the ability to motivate and influence to achieve a high level of performance.
Your accountabilities would also include:
* Developing the strategy and plan which enable the needs of the water network objectives (H&S, Water quality, Customer service, Leakage & Interruptions to supply) are managed and delivered through the combination of the contracts (Leak detection, R and M and other) through resilient and effective performance management/
* Developing, refining and implementing consistent processes that ensure continuous improvements and efficiencies are identified, working with other areas of the business and stakeholders gain approval, implement, and monitor to ensure effectiveness.
* Driving operational and commercial efficiency through the ownership of a portfolio of contractor led initiatives within the network and demand management teams as well as service partners monitor monthly spend against Capex and Opex budgets, using Management Information understand areas of overspend and in-efficiency and working with Service Partners, Commercial and Finance Teams identify corrective actions and opportunities to realign spend to budget and also maximise gainsharing.
* Creating and taking ownership of an audit programme that ensures governance of the Water network contracts which cover all aspects of the Service Partners and internal resources activities, Health & Safety, quality, value, compliance, service risks, data/reporting etc. The programme will be a combination of desktop and site audit and will employ BS6000 practices.
* Co-ordinating continual Contract development and improvement, assess scope and obligations in-line with environmental and legislative changes as well as business needs.
* Ownership of the company street works function including all avoidable and non-avoidable cost management and plans to mitigate further liabilities in this area.
* Providing support and response to emergency incidents.
* Budget management £100m per annum value of contract currently for the area including delivery efficiency improvements, company stretch targets and execution plan.
As a great collaborator, you are open to work with internal and external providers to work in line with our objectives and managing formal contractor review meetings to discuss, evaluate and renew contractor performance or in some cases to establish new contracts with your proven experience and exposure to communicating with stakeholders at all levels. With your passion to protect our network integrity, you will identify issues, establish solutions and ensure resources are coordinated and allocated accordingly to facilitate any required capital work or troubleshooting.
You will be building long standing partnership with existing and new suppliers in our new AMP 8 investment period and continuously driving efficiency by fostering cohesive relationships with our partners to achieve value maximisation for the organisation.
To be successful in his role, it is essential for you to have a Degree or Diploma in Management Studies or preferably recognised Project Management qualification or proven experience in a Project management/Contractor management role within an operational environment. It is highly desirable for you to have a strong background and knowledge of the water industry, water networks, civil engineer practices and innovations. However we welcome applicants with broad experience of managing contracts who have sound commercial and contracting background. Financially astute, able to drive financial performance, best company value and negotiate best market value are key to this role.
