Solution Architect
Join us as a Solution Architect working with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Business Analysts, fellow Solution Architects, Designers, Tech Leads, Test Managers and Operations Manager. You will first focus on rapid deployment and regulatory mandatory changes, then gradually take on larger programmes, ensuring you understand current deliverables and add value to the team.
Key experience and responsibilities
* Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to understand requirements and map AS-IS and TO-BE user journeys.
* Conduct technical analysis in a payment processing environment, defining solutions that align with the CIO technology roadmap and receive approval from Tower Lead Solution Architects.
* Take solutions through all Barclays governance processes, ensuring full approval before cross‑team design discussions.
Additional highly valued skills
* Knowledge of Cards & Payments domain, especially Commercial Cards.
* Experience designing cloud solutions using microservices, domain‑driven design and event‑driven architecture.
* Delivering regulatory change programmes at scale.
Purpose of the role
Design, develop and implement solutions to complex business problems, balancing technology risks against business delivery and ensuring consistency across the organization.
Accountabilities
* Design and develop solutions as evolving products that meet business requirements and modern software engineering practices.
* Apply cloud‑oriented workload placement strategies to maximize elasticity, serverless and containerisation benefits.
* Implement best‑practice designs incorporating security principles and resilience expectations.
* Balance risks and controls to deliver agreed business value.
* Adopt or evolve standardised solutions where appropriate.
* Support operational teams with fault‑finding and performance issue resolution using available tooling.
* Assess solution impact on risk, capacity and cost, including project change and ongoing run costs.
* Produce required architecture artefacts for governance, privacy, security and records management processes.
