Role Overview
We are seeking a Sales Consultant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a motivated and customer-focused individual who thrives on guiding business owners through their merchant services journey. Unlike a traditional sales role, this position is advisory-led: you will work with warm leads generated through our comparison site, listen to the customer’s needs, and provide impartial recommendations based on their requirements.
Your focus is not on hard selling, but on building trust and delivering value so merchants can make informed decisions with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage with warm leads from our comparison platform and guide them through the merchant services buying process.
* Conduct discovery calls to fully understand the customer’s business, industry, and payment requirements.
* Offer impartial advice on merchant services providers, products, and solutions tailored to the customer’s needs.
* Present clear comparisons of options (pricing, features, settlement times, risk appetite, etc.) to help merchants make informed choices.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of partner banks and acquirers, including their unique strengths, risk profiles, and pricing structures.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with merchants, ensuring a seamless and supportive onboarding experience.
* Log and manage all customer interactions within the CRM to ensure accurate reporting and pipeline management.
* Achieve agreed conversion and customer satisfaction targets while upholding MWBS’s consultative sales approach.
* Work closely with internal teams (Partner Support, Compliance, Training) to ensure smooth merchant onboarding.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a consultative sales role (financial services, payments, SaaS, or B2B sales preferred).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust quickly.
* A genuine customer-first mindset — ability to listen, empathise, and offer unbiased advice.
* Knowledge of the payments/merchant services industry is desirable but not essential (training provided).
* Comfortable working with CRMs and digital tools to manage leads and pipeline.
* Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously and prioritise effectively.
* Self-motivated with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
