The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Lead Senior Structures Engineer to join our Amey Consulting Structures team in Scotland. Our design hubs are located in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Motherwell, Perth, and Aberdeen, with additional offices in Dumfries, Ayr, Dundee, Nairn, and Huntly.
Our Structures Team is involved in designing some of the largest civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland, with cumulative values exceeding £1bn.
The Role
Our Lead Senior Engineers play a vital role within the Design team and collaborate closely with our client, Transport Scotland. As a Lead Senior Engineer, you will support your Design Team Leader on various civil schemes, lead projects, and mentor junior designers.
Responsibilities Include
* Leading a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions that meet all relevant standards and client requirements.
* Preparing and checking designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to schedules.
* Overseeing junior staff and ensuring their work meets standards.
* Managing project budgets and controlling costs related to deliverables.
* Liaising with clients and suppliers, attending meetings, and responding to queries.
* Contributing to bids and work-winning activities.
* Promoting effective health and safety practices within the team.
What You Will Bring
* Experience and expertise in relevant technical fields, likely gained in a Senior Engineer role or equivalent.
* Ability to produce and check high-quality engineering solutions independently.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and welfare management, including CDM regulations.
* Capability to act as a main engineering contact and as Principal Designer on projects.
* Proficiency with relevant software and analytical tools.
* Strong supervisory and people management skills.
* Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional license is desirable.
