About the Role:
A leading social housing provider is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in South East London. This role focuses on planned works and refurbishment projects across the housing portfolio, with the added responsibility of mentoring and managing junior team members. Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the cost control and commercial aspects of planned repairs and Refurishments
2. Prepare cost estimates, valuations, and final accounts for various works.
3. Monitor contractor performance and ensure value for money across projects.
4. Provide professional advice on procurement, contract management, and risk mitigation.
5. Lead, mentor, and develop junior QS staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
6. Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors, and tenants to ensure works are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
7. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in cost management.
Requirements:
8. Chartered or part-qualified Quantity Surveyor (RICS preferred).
9. Proven experience in quantity surveying, ideally in social housing or residential property maintenance.
10. Experience managing and mentoring junior staff.
11. Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, and cost control for minor works and reactive repairs.
12. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
13. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects effectively.
