Key Responsibilities
* Set and lead the Quality & Compliance strategy aligned to business and HSQE priorities, acting as the senior authority for quality, compliance and assurance, and advising and challenging senior leaders and the Board.
* Own and maintain the integrated management system (ISO 9001/14001/45001), embedding practical, user‑focused processes across the business and overseeing document control, change control and system governance.
* Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, contractual and client requirements by tracking legislative/standards changes, managing business impact and leading engagement with certification bodies and external auditors.
* Run a risk‑based internal audit programme and lead external audits, inspections and certification, ensuring timely closure of non‑conformances and CAPA and providing assurance reporting to senior leadership and governance forums.
* Oversee investigations into quality failures and compliance breaches, driving root‑cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions, and analysing trends and systemic risks to prevent recurrence.
* Set and track quality/compliance KPIs and produce clear, evidence‑based reports for internal and external stakeholders, using insights to drive decisions and continuous improvement.
* Be the senior contact for quality/compliance with key clients and partners, supporting bids, tenders and mobilisation with quality and assurance input, and building strong relationships across operational and corporate teams.
* Build capability through training, coaching and awareness, promoting a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
* Lead process improvement and optimisation initiatives, embedding quality and compliance in change, growth and transformation.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
* Senior Quality & Compliance leadership in an HSQE environment, with strong ISO knowledge (ISO 9001 essential; ISO 14001/45001 desirable) and regulatory/statutory compliance expertise.
* Proven track record leading audits, inspections and certification, able to influence senior stakeholders and drive culture change, with strong organisational and communication skills and a collaborative, relationship‑focused approach.
Desirable
* Experience in regulated/high‑risk sectors (e.g., construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, utilities), with lead auditor qualification and experience of integrated management systems.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in Quality, Engineering, Environmental, H&S or Business/Operations, with ISO 9001 qualification (Lead Auditor or Quality Manager/Practitioner) and compliance/assurance training (internal audit, risk‑based frameworks, CAPA).
Desirable qualifications
* Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 and professional membership (CQI (CQP), IOSH and/or IEMA).
