This is a rare opportunity to utilise management and leadership skills to help lead and develop dispensary services at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on our Aintree site. The dispensary is busy; you will be responsible for day-to-day running, rotas, supervision and training of staff.

Main duties of the job
* The post holder will support and deputise for the Lead Pharmacy Technician - Dispensary Services in developing and evaluating the Dispensary services in line with the vision for excellence in healthcare.
* Manage and develop the team of Technical and support staff in the dispensary and other pharmacy staff who provide the service to internal/external customers in accordance with all national and regional guidelines.
* Coordinate the day-to-day provision of the technical and support pharmacy service in the dispensary, ensuring the accurate and efficient dispensing of medicines in a timely manner, including controlled drugs and unlicensed medicines in accordance with national guidance.
* Ensure that all new staff are provided with training on the systems involved in the dispensing process.
* Audit and monitor the activity of operational service delivery and report to the Lead Pharmacy Technician - Dispensary Services at regular intervals.
* Ensure compliance with medicine storage and the safety and security of medicines in the dispensary.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* NVQ LEVEL 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences / BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Equivalent
* Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
* Accuracy Checking Technician qualification
Desirable criteria
* NVQ / A1 workplace assessors qualification
* Management qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
* Significant previous experience and knowledge of working in a hospital pharmacy
* Line management experience
* Excellent working knowledge of hospital pharmacy services led by technicians
* Experience in delivering education and training of other staff
Desirable criteria
* Experience of change management and/or project work that influenced change
* Experience of handling conflict including concerns raised by patients or staff
* Involvement in service audit
* Contribution to SOPs and report writing
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of Medicines Management and relevant legislation and policies
* Demonstrate an understanding of current pharmacy and NHS issues
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
* Organised and able to prioritise own work and that of others to ensure that objectives are met within agreed deadlines

* Proactively provide suggestions, ideas and solutions for service improvement
* Excellent keyboard and computer skills (email, databases, spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software)
