The Black Students Network (BSN) aims to support student wellbeing and professional development, and foster a sense of community and belonging amongst Black students at Bath. The BSN Student Ambassadors work with Student Support to create, deliver and promote a programme of BSN activities throughout the academic year. They have opportunities to organise, lead and support student events, create communications material (social media content, blogs, web content), network with students and staff, and work with various departments across the University.
Responsibilities
- Organise, plan, deliver and support a programme of BSN events for students (online and in person).
- Create and support communications – writing blogs, web content, social media content.
- Be part of the ongoing development of the BSN, providing ideas and feedback individually and as part of a working group.
- Liaise with the SU, SU Societies, student groups and departmental staff to strengthen partnership working and increase awareness of the BSN.
- Assist the evaluation of the BSN and the collection, analysis and dissemination of student feedback and data.
- Be proactive and forthcoming with ideas to enhance the impact of the BSN and respond to student need.
- Get involved in other opportunities that Student Support offers, such as supporting our regular groups for wellbeing and promoting our wellbeing offer to students.
Training
- Compulsory training covering Safeguarding, Risk & Confidentiality.
- Project‑specific training.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be enthusiastic, reliable, and punctual.
- Ability to engage with, and enthuse a wide range of students.
- Understanding the experiences of students who identify as Black or of mixed Black ethnicity.
- Ability to represent the student voice of a range of students who identify as Black or of mixed Black ethnicity.
- A commitment to improving the student experience for Black students at Bath.
- Current experience as a student at the University of Bath.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of organising meetings and/or events.
- Ability to create engaging, inclusive communications material and increase awareness of the BSN amongst students (only desirable if interested in the comms side of the role).
Remuneration
£13.45 per hour.
