Job Description:
This vacancy is based at the UKIFS site in West Burton, Nottinghamshire.
The role requires completing an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check, including the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
The Role
Join UKIFS as a Financial Controller to contribute to the future of fusion energy. You will ensure financial health and compliance, deliver robust financial control, and support the transition to a company managing complex processes and transactions for a prototype fusion energy plant.
You will assist the Finance Director in transforming UKIFS into a registered company, building a team, setting strategies, and developing procedures as the company grows.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Build and lead an effective financial control team through hiring, coaching, and mentorship.
* Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial records.
* Ensure responsible use of public funds.
* Lead the production of annual reports and financial statements, managing audit processes and ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
* Establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including UKAEA Group finance, auditors, industry partners, and senior staff.
* Provide technical accounting advice on standards and complex transactions.
* Oversee service delivery in UKIFS Finance for the Corporate Services agreement with UKAEA.
Qualifications - Essential Requirements:
* Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience in senior leadership roles.
* Knowledge of UK public sector finance regulations and governance.
* Strong technical accounting skills in large, complex organizations.
* Experience in financial risk management and control environments.
* Effective communication skills to interpret and convey complex financial data to diverse stakeholders.
* Leadership skills to motivate and inspire finance teams.
